The Family Support Team coordinates community, family, and school resources to ensure motivated, healthy, well-cared for students enthusiastically focus all of their energy on learning. The Team members work hand-in-hand with school staff, families, and community members to increase attendance, deepen family involvement, and find resources to prevent and solve problems leading to poor achievement.
The Team is designed to focus on those children who are struggling or not succeeding despite standard program interventions - those children who are "falling through the cracks." Their problems may be due to academic, behavioral, social, health, or attendance issues. The Team works relentlessly to ensure success for every child. This can only be accomplished through positive, solution-focused collaboration between family and school. Students may be referred to the Family Support Team by staff or parents.
The three fundamental goals of the Family Support Team are:
- Success for every child
- Empowerment of parents through partnership
- Integration of services to children by using a team approach
This broad-based programming focuses on four major target areas:
- Attendance
- School-Based Intervention
- Family Involvement
- Service Integration
