Chee Dodge Elementary School is located in Yahtahey, New Mexico, which is approximately six miles north of Gallup, New Mexico, on NM State Highway 491. Our school serves approximately 400 students from Pre-K to fifth grade. The school was first opened in 1989. Originally the students were transfered from the old Tse Bonito Elementary School in Black Hat, New Mexico. Chee Dodge Elementary received its name from Henry Chee Dodge, who was an interpreter and the first Chairman of the Navajo Tribe.

Our school serves mainly Navajo students from the surrounding communities of Yahtahey, Rock Springs, Tohlakai, Coal Mine, China Springs, Tseyatoh, and Tse Bonito, New Mexico.
